As kids, we would go to the movies at the "Grand" or the "Islis" Theater every Saturday afternoon; but first we had to take our pennies into the "Candy Kitchen" next door and spend half an hour picking out what items we wanted which were displayed in the window. (Jaw-breakers, All-day suckers, Licorice twists, carmels, "Nigger-babies", or dark-secrets - all satisfied our hunger for sweets.)
