Oxford, Idaho; Mines Item Info

Title:
Oxford, Idaho; Mines
Creator:
James D. Boyce
Description:
Lucky Baker Mining and Development Co. Inc. stock certificate, made out to James Jensen for 2,000 shares. November 3, 1938. Signed by armin A. Rosenbau and Alex McLachlan. Shares were 10 cents each. This certificate was given to Bob James Jensen for cooking for the mine crew. James gave the stock certificate and picture to Dee Boyce in 1983 during an interview. The mine was a failure. The little smelter built just south of the Hill home only smelted out one batch of ore. On the second attempt their generator quit and the ore solidified in the crucible. Many area people provided work and supplies for the mining operation and were given Stock Certificates for pay, which proved worthless.
